Things Left in Carts

Generally to be avoided

is the cart with remnants of a previous shopper.

It is akin to peering in

a living room window.

Here's one. The hasty, crumpled note reading:

AAA batteries

tart cherry juice

ashwagandah (crossed out).

And another. Left behind:

six six-packs of bright green Gatorade.

Somewhere, electrolytes

are in need of balance.

"I never know which tissues to buy,"

the elderly lady told me.

"Me either," I sighed.

We'll both leave something behind today.

A Dedication
