Jelly Jar

I looked up stubbornness.
I literally Googled it.
To see if I was right.
(That doesn’t make me
stubborn, by the way,
just curious
–and precise.)

You resist change,
you see.
You rigidly cling
to your ideas of security
never once considering
openness.
Which is what I need
from you.

You also have
an almost
irrational
need to be
right.
(Or is it left?)
Either way you
are uncompromising
in your limits
rules
and boundaries.

For your own sake
and for ours
I hope you will consider
embracing flexibility.

Because I really wanted
grape jelly
on my bagel
this morning.
